At Cellufun I created a robust system where users could build and customize their own avatars. This later became the cornerstone of Cellufun's (later named Tylted) business model. Players would spend real money to customize these avatars, There were hundreds of each type of item available.
These avatars could animate and were featured in all of Cellufun's games. At a later date we revamped the art to be larger and more reailistic. Over 5 years later the company still uses this same system.
